Update on the Restructuring of Central Services
Issued: Nov. 20, 2009
The financial and organizational restructuring of the Archdiocese of Detroit’s Central Services, announced just prior to Labor Day, is on schedule and proceeding as planned. This week, several major changes were made regarding Central Services personnel. As indicated in the September announcement, new job descriptions were created for the 187 (out of 264) remaining positions in the administrative offices of the archdiocese. With few exceptions, those positions were offered Wednesday, November 18. A new organizational chart should be fully operational by the first of the year.
During the transition process, 25 people retired; 13 people left for other employment or opportunities; and, after final selections were made, 33 people were not offered positions. Ten priests working in the administrative offices received other assignments in the archdiocese. Efforts continue to assist former employees with their retirement plans, severance packages, and in job placement workshops.
If you have questions as to whom to contact for a particular office or service, please call the switchboard for assistance at (313) 237-5800. Up-to-date information on the restructuring of the Detroit archdiocese can be found on our Web site at www.aodonline.org/restructure.
