The Archdiocese of Detroit is partnering with the six other Catholic dioceses of Michigan to host the first-ever statewide conference for Catholic and other Christian men. The conference, which is expected to draw 7,000 men from throughout the state, will be held at the Eastern Michigan University Convocation Center in Ypsilanti on June 26. The Detroit archdiocese has hosted its own Catholic men’s conference for each of the past seven years, drawing as many as 3,500 men. The statewide conference theme is Doing all things in Christ! Tapping into real power in a power-hungry world.

"To respond to the challenge of living a dynamic discipleship in a secular society, relying on our own power isn’t enough- we need the power of God," says Paco Gavrilides, adult evangelization coordinator for the Detroit Archdiocese. "It’s time for Christian men to identify with each other as men who want to be walking as disciples of Christ with integrity in our society today."

The conference will be a multimedia event that blends a roster of presenters with powerful music, video and a large resource center for attendees. Speakers at the conference will include:

  • Most Rev. Earl Boyea, Bishop of the Diocese of Lansing
  • Vic Faust, weekend news anchor for WXYZ
  • Danny Abramowicz, former New Orleans Saints all-pro wide receiver
  • Fr. John Riccardo, Catholic radio personality and pastor of Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish, Plymouth
  • Matthew Kelly, international speaker and author
  • Curtis Martin, TV host and founder of Fellowship of Catholic University Students
