Over the last decade, AIDS has become a major concern within the United States. The response of the Archdiocese of Detroit has been on an individual basis with priests, chaplains and lay people incorporating this new specialty into their everyday work.
Out of this call to awarness and need the AIDS Ministry Forum was formed. The AIDS Ministry Forum does not provide direct service, but rather embraces and promotes the direct service of Catholics who are involved in ministry with persons with AIDS, their families and friends.
Education The AIDS Ministry Forum works in cooperation with Catholic Charities to encourage the implementation of The National Catholic Education Association's Curriculum "A Catholic Educational Approach to HIV" with Religious Education Programs, Catholic Schools and Youth Ministry Groups.
HIV/AIDS Awareness Presentations AIDS Ministry Forum encourages and supports all efforts to increase people's knowledge of HIV/AIDS awareness. We would be glad to assist with a speaker for a parish or group.
Bereavement and Spiritual Counseling Clergy from the AIDS Ministry Forum are available upon request. Requests are handled in a confidential manner.
Mission: The AIDS Ministry Forum of the Archdiocese of Detroit will provide education, caring support, and resources to encourage and assist the Catholic community in developing their ministry to people infected and affected by HIV/AIDS.
