December Happenings at The Retreat Center
  • On December 4th the Faith Formation Catechetics Office of the Archdiocese of Detroit held their annual Advent Day of Reflection for religious educators and pastoral ministers.

This event always draws a large number of participants to share Advent reflections.

  • The fourth annual Advent Tea took place on Sunday December 7th. Seventy women came to participate in the luncheon and reflection. Sister Angelita Fenker gave a presentation on "Mary our Soul-Mate." The women were invited to bring a child's book for the University of Michigan Mott Children's Hospital Giving Library in Ann Arbor. In addition, a small raffle along with an additional donation provided a contribution to Catholic Social Services of Oakland County.

  • On the Third Sunday of Advent, Gaudete, Louis Canter brought the Gospel Choir from St. Charles Borromeo to celebrate sung Vespers in the main chapel at 6:00 p.m.

  • Sacred Heart Major Seminary concluded the fall semester course, Ancient Medieval Philosophy..

  • Three Protestant communities with nearly 100 participants chose the Center as a place for prayer and reflection during the early days of December.

  • Two high school retreats, a confirmation retreat, a Catholic community retreat and an overnight board retreat rounded out the short month. In all, around 500 guests were welcomed to our Center.
